Marlene Upperman suffered from a brain tumor, which would eventually cause her to lose her eyesight. It was her dream to see Laguna Beach, in California, before losing her vision completely. Stephan Forbes, the development manager at Nathan Adelson Hospice, connected Ms. Upperman with the Lighthouse of Hope Fund, which gave her the opportunity to enjoy her favorite beach. Through the Lighthouse of Hope fund, Ms. Upperman was able to see the shining sun sparkle on the water and feel the sand on her feet, one last time.
