Eight Teams Raised $46,000 for Hospice through the Bourbon Chase Overnight Relay

For Immediate Release:
October 11, 2011

(Alexandria, VA) –  On October 7 and 8, 2011 the hills of Kentucky were filled with runners and support vans, traversing the Bourbon Trail, for the third running of the Bourbon Chase, an overnight relay covering 200 miles.

Each of the more than 250 teams had 12 runners and a driver for each van. This year, NHF’s Run to remember fielded 8 teams! Together and to date, these teams have raised over $46,000!

In addition, Lexington’s Hospice of the Bluegrass provided 40 volunteers for the finish line, which helped make this race truly a celebration of hospice care.

Stuart Lazarus, Run to Remember’s founder and program director, ran his third Bourbon Chase this year and captained one of the teams. He said, “This relay is just an incredible event in which you spend a lot of time talking about all sorts of things. It was seriously magical to hear so many people singing the praises of hospice care. The hospice effort will continue and expand at the Bourbon Chase.”

NHF’s Run to Remember program was one of three featured charities at the Bourbon Chase this year, along with the American Lung Association and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
