Hospices Can Benefit from the ING New York City Marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon This Fall
For Immediate Release:
July 29, 2010
(Alexandria, VA) – Through NHF’s Run to Remember program, hospices can benefit from marathon runners who gain entry into the upcoming ING New York City Marathon or the Marine Corps Marathon. Those runners can designate a local hospice to receive 50% of the dollars they raise. Typically, marathoners are among the best fundraisers in Run to Remember.
“Both New York and the Marine Corps are premier races and registration closed months ago. At this point, people wishing to participate in these races this fall must obtain a “charity bib.” We’re delighted to offer a limited number of them to hospice supporters,” says Stuart Lazarus, founder and national director of Run to Remember.
Hospice leaders can spread the word to board members, staff, volunteers, and grateful family members about the availability of these coveted race spots.
- This year’s ING New York City Marathon is on Sunday, November 7. Run to Remember is part of the marathon’s Community Charity Program. The mandatory fundraising goal for a New York spot is $3,000. The funds can be raised from family or friends or donated by the runner.
- The Marine Corps Marathon is on Sunday, October 31. There is no mandatory fundraising goal for this race, but we suggest a “best effort” to raise $1,500.
Anyone interested in either marathon should immediately contact Stuart Lazarus, national program director for Run to Remember, at either stuart@runtoremember.org or 614-271-7465.
