Evercare® Employees and Families to Team Up with Run to Remember in 11 Cities

For Immediate Release:
April 29, 2011

(Alexandria, VA) – Evercare Hospice & Palliative Care employees and their families around the country will participate in the National Hospice Foundation’s Run to Remember®. Eleven different local Evercare Hospice team will show their support at local 5K races.

Donations raised for Run to Remember events support the National Hospice Foundation and other affiliated hospice organizations. NHF began Run to Remember in 2004. Through the program, participants choose races of any length (5K through marathons or more) and run or walk those races in memory of their loved ones.

“It’s exciting to motivate people to lace up their shoes and participate in these events in support of hospice care,” said Patricia Ford, vice president of operations for Evercare Hospice & Palliative Care. “Participating in Run to Remember with the National Hospice Foundation is a wonderful way for our employees, families and friends to have a positive impact on hospice care nationwide.”

Run to Remember is NHF’s athletic fund-raising program, in which runners and walkers train for races of varying lengths, honor their loved one’s memories, and raise money for hospice. The program benefits local hospices across the country, as well as NHF’s work to advance hospice care at the national level.

“This program is so vital – it helps raise money for initiatives that we can carry out at the national level and also provides funds for local hospice care,” said J. Donald Schumacher, president and CEO of NHF. “And most important – it provides people with an incredible way to honor the memory of their loved ones.”
